In this webinar you will discuss how to build a budget and spending plan with the member. In addition you will learn ways that the member can reduce the amount of debt they owe. This webinar is designed for financial counselors, collectors, loan officers, managers, or credit union staff that is committed to helping a member gain control of their finances. Affiliation with CUNA/League is required for attendance.
INSTRUCTORSKathryn Greiner, AFC Director of Credit Education, University of Michigan Credit Union Kathryn has been helping people improve their budgeting skills since 1976, and has been called the "budget guru" by the Ann Arbor Observer. Through the University of Michigan Credit Union, Kathryn provides budget counseling as a free service to UMCU members. Trained and certified as a credit counselor, Kathryn developed a credit education program to teach consumers the skills needed to establish workable budgets, avoid bankruptcy, and improve creditworthiness. In private counseling sessions, she teaches how to control spending, reduce debt, begin to save and still enjoy life! With her unique blend of compassion, realism, and humor she helps them find sensible, workable answers to their financial problems. Kathryn hosted a call-in radio talk show called "Credit Line" on WAAM radio for two years, has produced four credit education videos and her articles have been published in several credit union newsletters. Kathryn is the editor of ON MY OWN, a newsletter on the wise use of credit by and for high school students. ARCHIVE WEBINAR OVERVIEW Archived CUNA Webinars enable staff to pick up new skills and keep up with daily responsibilities. Viewing a archived webinar will enable you to see and hear a presentation, questions of the instructor, and refer to handouts. You need only a computer with an Internet connection and speakers. If you have a computer projection screen, it's easy to provide this training to a whole roomful of staff! Use our 90- to 120-minute archived webinars as part of a full day of training by gaining knowledge and ideas at the webinar, then spend some time discussing how the new information applies to your credit union. A single session archived webinar will be made available usually within 48 hours of the live event and a two session archived webinar will be made available within 48 hours of the conclusion of the second session. By registering for this archived webinar, you will receive unlimited access until the end date listed above. No access to this archived webinar is provided after the end date listed above. CANCELLATIONS The last day for cancellations was June 18, 2008. Substitutions are accepted anytime prior to June 19, 2008 at no additional cost.
