ABOUT THIS ARCHIVE WEBINAR
The 2008 election results will certainly be of importance to the credit union industry. The economy has been the number one concern for Americans throughout this election year due to the subprime mortgage crisis, rising unemployment rates, increased consumer debt, and the $700 billion bailout. This is a top priority for the new President and all other elected officials going forward. During the webinar our panel will discuss how the election results impact the economy as well as other top issues in this year's election and what it all means for the credit union industry.

INSTRUCTORS
Thomas D. (Trey) Hawkins, III
Trey Hawkins has been CUNA's political director since February 2005. His responsibilities include the management of the Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC), as well as political action on behalf of credit union-friendly candidates nationwide. Prior to joining CUNA, Trey spent five years in political fundraising and campaign management. He served as the Louisiana Democratic Party's finance director during the 2003 state and 2004 federal elections, where he increased the party's annual giving by 33%, tripled the grassroots donor base, and raised over $5.7 million for the party and its candidates.

Ryan Donovan

Richard Gose
For the past 20 years Richard Gose, CUNA's senior vice president of political affairs, has worked as a political affairs and trade association professional. He has combined campaign politics, grassroots activation, an understanding of the legislative process, and various forms of communication to advance the political operations for three major trade associations including the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), and the American Insurance Association (AIA). Among the innovations Gose has pioneered at CUNA are "Hike the Hill," a program which brings more than 1,000 credit union representatives to Washington each year to meet with members of Congress, and "Project Zip Code," which has identified 64 million credit union members in state and federal legislative districts.

John Magill

John Magill is the senior vice president of legislative affairs in the Credit Union National Association's Washington, D.C. office. He has a full range of lobbying responsibilities, including the coordination and supervision of the activities of CUNA's legislative team, representing the interests of the credit union movement before both houses of Congress. An accomplished congressional staff administrator, Magill has nearly 30 years' experience on the Hill, the past 19 of those working for Rep. Wally Herger (R-Calif.), a chairman of the human resources subcommittee for the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee.
