ABOUT THIS WEBINAR
Think the real estate market is bad enough for your bottom line? Well don't look now, but bankruptcies are back in the mix again! This session will examine the current state of consumer bankruptcy and how it continues to impact credit unions. It has been two years since the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act became law and you will take a look at some of the unexpected results. And just when you thought things couldn't get any worse, Congress steps in with several possible "consumer protection" laws that could significantly impact your credit union.

Through this webinar you will:
  • Gain a brief history and "intended purpose" of bankruptcy
  • Review key bankruptcy terms and concepts
  • Learn what every credit union should be doing after it receives a bankruptcy notice
  • Explore fraud and preference actions
  • Learn about automobile loan cramdowns
  • Identify real estate loans in bankruptcy
  • Explore the Fair Credit Reporting Act and FACT Act Violations
  • Learn about automatic Stay Violations, Post Discharge Injunction, and the recent Congressional action

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This webinar is designed for collection officers, loan officers, mortgage processors, management, or any staff at your credit union that is directly involved with collections or lending issues.

Affiliation with CUNA/League is required for attendance.

WEBINAR OVERVIEW
CUNA Webinars enable staff to pick up new skills and keep up with daily responsibilities. Just like in face-to-face classes, students see and hear a presentation, ask questions of the instructor, and refer to handouts. You need only a speakerphone and computer with Internet connection. And if you have a computer projection screen, it's easy to provide this training to a whole roomful of staff!

Use our webinars as part of a full day of training. Gain knowledge and ideas at the webinar, then spend some time discussing how the new information applies to your credit union.

CUNA Webinars use WebEx to provide an interactive and convenient online learning environment. Whether you are a first time WebEx user, or simply need a refresher, take a short tour of WebEx to help you get the most from CUNA Webinars. You'll learn how to effectively interact with the presenter and your peers during live webinars.
