“Community 1st Credit Union purchased CPDOnline with the intent of using it as a self study tool for staff to learn about various credit union subjects. We were impressed with the level of quality and the interaction of the courses, and felt it would provide our staff with a higher level of eLearning than we had in the past.

In addition to using this as an eLearning - self study tool, we discovered many other elements to the software and are now using it to track training sessions, log training test results, and customize individual training needs tied to position.

In looking to the future, we are planning on using it for other initiatives including:

  • Require all employees participate in directed (courses identified based on job description) self study – eLearning CPDOnline sessions.

"We use CPDOnline for STAR and MERIT programs. We liked the fact that CPDOnline provides reports and basic learning management capability. Just the time I save tracking completion via CPDOnline for incentives and monthly reports is huge. We also make select use of various webinars and eSchools, too. The employees who choose to work through the STAR modules learn more about the credit union industry and their job at our credit union. "Communicators FCU has been using CPDOnline. Before we switched to the STAR and MERIT online exams, a lot of my time was spent collecting, copying and mailing scantron answer sheets. Since we grant three hours of training credit to employees for each book completed, I had to constantly track down the "pass/fail" letter, which was always sent directly to the employee, to verify the earned training time. Online exams have eliminated all this "paper shuffling". The employees love taking the exams online because they get the exam results immediately rather than waiting 2-3 weeks for a letter. I think this is one of the factors of CPDOnline that has encouraged employees to be more participative in the STAR and MERIT program. We also have a management development program which includes completion of 12 MERIT books over a two-year time frame. Again, ease of use of the online exams is a contributing factor.

Now, being a student administrator allows me to retrieve reports for any or all of my employees for any given time frame. I simply print a monthly report and input the information on our training software program for each employee shown on the report."

I signed up for CPDOnline in January 2002 for our credit union's staff to have easy access to the STAR modules. Part of our commitment to staff is continued education and the STAR modules we had on site were out-dated.
