SEMINAR OVERVIEW

The marketing networks provide an opportunity for marketing and business development managers to learn from industry experts and share ideas with their peers.

TOPICS & OBJECTIVES

9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Trademarking and Intellectual Property, Michael Gallagher

  • The idea of intellectual property is vitally important in today’s business world. Patenting, trademarking and copyrighting are intellectual property protection terms whose meanings are too often confused by many people. Learn how a trademark can protect your credit union, the importance of trademarks registration, what the procedures are, and the overall process. Get valuable information from a state and federal level.

10:45 a.m. - Noon Marketing to Women

  • Reports have shown that women make up to 90 percent of the financial decisions in a household. Credit unions need to know what women are looking for in a financial institution and how changing your marketing strategy can make your credit union more attractive to women. Learn how to reach this market better and gain detailed information on positioning your online and print marketing will attract the female gender.

1:00 - 1:45 p.m. Responding to Recent Phishing Attacks, Katie Walton

  • Every day, consumers are under siege as scam artists attempt to steal their personal financial information. In August, hundreds of Ohio credit union members and non-members received text, e-mail, and phone messages purporting to be from credit unions and informing them their accounts had been suspended. What should your credit union do if this happens? What if your credit union's name is used in phishing or other scams? Find out what was learned from the August fraud attacks, how to prepare your members, and how to defend against these kinds of attacks.

2:00 - 2:45 p.m. Cracker Barrel Discussion

  • Explore hot topics and learn valuable information from your marketing peers. Be prepared to discuss current successes and challenges your credit union is experiencing.

2:45 - 3:30 p.m. Facilitated Discussion: Responding to the Financial Crisis

  • Take time to learn from your peers about how they are responding to their membership in these turbulent times. Gain insight on possible avenues and messages to use when communicating to you members about the safety of their money.
