Bankruptcy

Charlie Williams, a partner in the Dallas, Texas firm of Blalack & Williams, will address emerging trends in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases. He will place particular emphasis on recent litigation and pitfalls facing creditors with respect to bankruptcy law as well as related consumer protection laws such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

CUSO Activities

Katherine Weber, a partner with Messick & Weber, will highlight the activities of credit union service organizations or CUSOs. This session explores CUSO powers and activities as well as the organization and governance of CUSOs. Hear how credit unions use CUSOs to enhance member service and manage risk.

Third Party Vendor Due Diligence

Edward Kaushas, from the Law Offices of Edward Kaushas, relates third-party due diligence requirements that apply to credit unions. Ed presents the risk-based approach encouraged by the National Credit Union Administration. The program will also address the emerging "red flag" requirements imposed by FACTA.

What's New in Credit Union Business Lending

Molly Snody and Rick Wargo, of the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association, demonstrate how proper risk management leads to successful compliance with NCUA business lending regulations as well as a healthy commercial loan portfolio. The program focuses on supervisory enforcement actions, risk mitigation, and adequate loan documentation.

Mortgages and Consumer Trends

Paul Schieber, a partner from the firm of Blank Rome, offers his observations on the mortgage market and highlights what is in store for the secondary market. In addition, he will examine the leading compliance issues connected to consumer loans.

Credit Union Marketplace

Laurie Kennedy, of the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association, will address major legal and regulatory issues impacting credit unions. Topics will include chartering litigation, emerging regulatory issues, and other developing matters.
