Suzanne Yashewski
Suzanne is the vice president of regulatory compliance & legal affairs, and she has served as legal counsel for the Texas Credit Union League (TCUL) since 2001. With her legal background, Suzanne assists credit unions in understanding complex legal and regulatory compliance issues through TCUL's Information Central. Information Central offers a hotline for all credit union staff, a compliance newsletter, a compliance web site, an online compliance manual, training, and more. Suzanne also serves as a credit union advocate in the regulatory process as well as legislative process.
Prior to working with credit unions, Suzanne practiced employment law. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and its employment law section, the American Bar Association and its credit union committee of the business law section, and the Austin Bar Association and its financial institutions section.
Dana Sumner
Dana has more than 20 years experience as a commercial lender, working for some of the largest financial institutions in the country. In 2002, Dana and Vin DiCara started Development Finance Training and Consulting Inc. to offer commercial loan training nationally. He has trained thousands of lenders across the country in the areas of portfolio management, credit analysis, loan underwriting, problem loan resolution, documentation, financial analysis, and entrepreneurial assistance. Dana has provided programs for the Credit Union National Association, Small Business Administration, National Association of Development Organizations, Rural Development, USDA., New England College of Finance, and numerous financial institutions.
Kristina Grebener
As director of research & advisory services, Kristina oversees the Credit Union Environment Research unit. She leads a team of analysts providing credit unions with the tools and market analyses needed for strategic planning. She is responsible for CUNA's Credit Union Environmental Scan (E-Scan) and CU360 – CUNA's research portal. Kristina regularly speaks at industry conferences on market research and issues impacting credit unions.
Prior to joining CUNA in 1998, Kristina worked for Hagler Bailly Consulting, Inc., conducting research for electric and gas utilities, governmental agencies, and regulators.
Jeff Rendel
Jeff is president of Rising Above Enterprises and offers a wealth of knowledge in the financial services marketplace. He works with associations and professionals who want greater professional growth, as well as financial services providers who want deeper market penetration. His mission is to develop excellent leaders – in life, on the job, for your members, and for your credit union. Jeff has experience as a federal regulator, financial executive, and congressional lobbyist.
Frank Drake
Frank has been a partner in the Raleigh, North Carolina law firm of Smith Debnam Narron Wyche Saintsing & Myers since 1994, following a sixteen year practice specializing in creditor's rights, bankruptcy, and repossession law in Louisville, Kentucky.
Previously, he was senior vice president of William Mapother's law firm. He has practiced in North Carolina, Kentucky, West Virginia, and the federal courts of southern Indiana. Since 1983, he has lectured frequently at practical skills courses for young attorneys and paralegals, and more recently at bankruptcy and regulatory compliance programs for credit unions across the U.S. His articles on practical application of laws and regulations to credit union procedures have appeared in state bar magazines, national newsletters, and on the Internet. He has specialized in representing credit unions for more than two decades.
David Reed
David Reed, founder of CU Doctor, has nearly two decades of collections and bankruptcy experience representing both debtors and creditors. He is a former bankruptcy attorney, vice president, and general counsel for a large credit union.
Mike Schenk
Mike is vice president of economics and statistics for Credit Union National Association. He conducts economic and financial research and provides support for CUNA Governmental Affairs and Public Relations efforts. His analyses regularly appear in publications such as CUNA's Credit Union Magazine and CU360 Newsletter. Mike has 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Before joining CUNA in 1992, he was the director of research for Financial Research Corporation, where he conducted economic analyses, competitor evaluations, and product-line planning for mutual fund companies.
