RegTraC Recertification Requirements and Guidelines

Summary of Recertification Process

  • CUCE designations must be renewed every 3 years.
  • Thirty (30) credits of Compliance continuing education are required for recertification. A listing of applicable continuing education activities appears below, including the UPDATE school. All credits must be earned within the 3-year recertification period.
  • Candidates must pass a recertification exam consisting of multiple choice and true/false questions on regulatory changes during the preceding 3 years.
  • There is a $115 fee if you recertify on your own. Materials and testing are included if you recertify at the Regulatory Compliance School Update.

Steps to Recertification

Step 1 Complete 30 credits of compliance continuing education during your 3-year certification period.
Step 2 Information and an application form is sent to you for your recertification year.
Step 3 List your qualifying compliance continuing education credits on the RegTraC Recertification Application. Please indicate whether you will be recertifying at a CUNA Regulatory Compliance School Update or on your own.
Step 4 If you wish to recertify on your own, your Review Workbook and Exam Request Form are sent to you. If you attend a CUNA Update school, the workbook and exam will be provided there.
Step 5 Prepare for your exam. Use the Review Workbook to study and review. Schedule an exam date with your proctor.
Step 5a For Self-Study only: When you have an exam date, mail or fax the Exam Request Form.
Step 5b For Self-Study only: When your request is received, exam materials are sent to your proctor.
Step 6 Take your recertification exam. Results for self-study students are mailed 4 weeks after your proctor mails your exam to the National Processing Center. Attendees at the Update school receive their grades the day after the exam.
Step 7 Your Recertification Certificate is mailed to you 6–8 weeks after processing the exam.
