Please note: The Volunteer Leadership Program (VLP) will be discontinued in 2009 based upon an increase of comparable and more dynamic training opportunities.

We apologize for any inconvenience that discontinuing this program may cause you. Here are some key dates to remember and plan for:

VLP courses will no longer be sold from CUNA after February 28, 2009. Quantities are limited, and courses will not be available after they sell out.
VLP testing and recognition will no longer be available from CUNA after December 31, 2009.

Credit union volunteers will learn to work together more effectively, improve their communications skills, and become better leaders with the Volunteer Leadership Program. The Volunteer Leadership Program is designed to help volunteers soar to the next level in their leadership potential.

A Complete Training Program

Credit Union leaders operate in a complex environment of laws, regulations, electronic technology, and finance. The Volunteer Leadership Program meets the challenging educational needs of credit union management and board volunteers. Volunteers benefit by completing just one module of their choice or multiple courses. Training is offered through independent study and league- or chapter-sponsored programs.

Testing

Students who score 80% or better on a 40-question, multiple-choice, open-book exam pass the course. Those with lower scores can retest.

Recognition Opportunities

Prestigious credit union certificates and lapel pins are awarded with the completion of every six courses of the student's choice. The Basic Certificate is awarded after six modules and the Blue Diamond Certificate after 11 modules.
